Strathaven Castle...

Beautiful day today, so went for a walk in the afternoon. Wandered up to the castle and got some lovely shots, because the sunshine and light were superb...
Took a lot of very different images, but eventually chose this one because I liked the strong colours...

I should probably say something about the castle, just to put it in context. There has been a castle on the site since around 1350 but that one was burned down in March 1455. It belonged then to the notorious Douglas family, who had rebelled against the Crown and were getting too powerful to be tolerated. So the house of Douglas was "suppressed" in 1455 and all their possessions conficated. This castle was then built around 1458 and is now a ruin, but a very picturesque one!
Rumour has it that there are several ley tunnels (secret pasges) that run from the castle to various parts of town, but none of them have ever been found.

Lovely sunny day today, but so very cold...
