Sugar Shed Doors

Absent Voices artist, Alastair Cook, took this picture of a set of vast iron doors which open up to one section of the disused sugar warehouse at James Watt Dock in Greenock.

Maybe it's fanciful but it's like the spirits of all the long gone absent voices who worked in these sheds are all jockeying around the doors, looking for their stories to be told...

Which is where this year-long project to tell the creative story of Greenock's once mighty sugar industry comes in.
