Drawing on the sugar legacy
Today saw the first Absent Voices drawing and walking tour of Greenock's historic A-listed Sugar Sheds.
It was facilitated by artists, Rod Miller (who used to jump down sugar mountains inside the sheds) and Annie McKay.
The participants ranged from a wee girl of nine to a retired lady.
Anne reports that everyone's confidence soared as the session progressed. "Showing others how to draw really made me look more closely at the fantastic textures and shapes," she says.
"I loved how the wee girl said that she learned how to 'cross hatch' in our comments book, and how the group got on so well and even shared their sandwiches!
"Rod told me later that one of the ladies even had a direct link to a decendant of the Tate family."
