The last of the leaves

I was working at home, beset by an assortment of unlikely quandaries and unanswerable queries. Mr H performed the annual ritual of applying the secondary double glazing, which requires much cursing. I took a couple of breaks and cleaned some of the windows for him.

The last few leaves on the maples are dazzlingly bright. Lovely. But there are only a few left on the lower boughs now - and it was almost as if the sun was disppearing round the corner for a while.
