After supper speaker

Back in the summer Matthew restored the dials and clock at St Mary's Church in Chesham. The Church is fairly local to us and we have rung there on an number of occasions and are good friends with their tower captain.

The Friends of St Mary's (FOSM) gave money to have the clock and its dials restored as part of a wider refurbishment of the spire and tower. Whilst he was working at the Church he was asked if he would be willing to give a talk on the restoration to the FOSM at their AGM and this was held this evening.

The AGM was held in the Church Halls where we were treated like royalty! We shared a lovely home cooked meal with the group, including some fabulous puddings!

Matthew then spoke for about half an hour and had photographs projected to illustrate the talk. It went down a storm with lots chuckles in the right places and lots of questions afterwards.

I am very proud of him, this was the first time he had done this sort of thing and I think I was more nervous than him, he took it all in his stride and received some lovely comments and a nice bottle of red wine, I was also given a bunch of roses!

There were lots of comments about how interesting it was and how much he must love his job and clocks! I know sometimes his job frustrates him but there is no denying he loves clocks and church bells and that shone through whilst he was speaking!

Well done Matthew x
