Almost Black and White
Linlithgow Palace was looking rather nostalgic and mysterious today when I passed, so I stopped to capture it. It's most famous resident Mary Queen of Scots was born there in the winter of 1542 and she became the Queen of Scots aged just six days old.
Her world was dominated by both the Renaissance and the Reformation and was a time of great change for human beings, in the way they viewed themselves in relation to society and the world in which they lived. It was both a time of the greatest artistic achievements in Western Europe and religious revolution that had far reaching economic, political and social effects.
They say the 16th Century is comparable only to that of the 20th Century when big ambitions were realised and stability and wealth grew across Europe.
It made me wonder what will this Century bring-change of course but perhaps a better kind of change, perhaps a change that places importance on the things that really matter.
Most of all I'd like to think this Century will bring us peace, joy and a little hope.
