A Turning Point

This fountain/roundabout is where the USA turned around on the 1st December 1955.
Up the hill in the back ground is the Capital building of Alabama. Today I arrived into Montgomery for a surface water meeting tomorrow. After a wonder around the town I went for a beer and steak at the local brew pub which was awesome and meet a great group of locals who told me about how good the kayaking is locally and showed me their great VW camper vans. The city is going through a bit of a renaissance.
Back to the round about I learn t about at high school. Just to the left where you see the sign is where Rosa Parks famously boarded the bus that day and refused to give up her seat. Although the US is far from equal that did start a huge turnabout that is still in progress today.
