Hill Billy Festival

Not what you would typically think with that title, was thinking of bunch of tossers but thought that was unfair. Hill Billy is the original correct term for the Scots who supported King William and lived in the hills of Georgia. These guys were a little more refined and put on a great show with their Highland games at Stone Mountain. I always am a little cynical of the Scots/Irish pride that comes from these people (most had never been to Scotland never mind came from there) but then maybe its a little jealousy to. As a northerner I am proud of my origins, Yorkshire born, Manchester bred, English and Welsh. Celt history is very deep in the north of England through music and culture. And in 1850 the Bank of England was based in Manchester because of the trade running through the city.
However when I travel (especially in the USA) Englishness is either associated with the EDL style idiots or the upper class Ca-moron London/Eton set.
For lots of people in the US, London Village is England. Scotland and Ireland are seen as separate places with golf, whisky and Guinness. Manchester is known as the place with the football team. We have those but so much more going on in the north.
