Toadstool Island

Carys had her ballet exam this morning. We then wandered round town, enjoying the fact it was dry and quite quiet as it was early. We stopped for coffee, she started to write a letter to her friend in Brighton (which I will finish) and I wrote all the thank you's for W's birthday party. I realised we needed to pick up a parcel so then we headed out to Baldock Tesco before heading home for lunch.

After lunch the two children were winding each up something shocking, so we got kitted up and headed out to Oughton Head Common. We had a lovely walk, I got a lovely photo of our family shadows but preferred this in the end. No idea what the mushrooms/toadstools are.

I am aware that today is Remembrance Sunday and normally I post a related shot, but I didn't have one today. We did walk past the war memorial but the full service is tomorrow so there were only two wreaths and it didn't really inspire me. But we haven't forgotten and we never will. Both my children are involved in the poppy appeal, collecting on the last two Saturdays and I deliver and collect poppy boxes to businesses in Hitchin.
