For the Fallen
10.7C and bright with a light breeze.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
From Laurence Binyon's poem, "For the Fallen", which was first published in The Times in September 1914.
I had been thinking of the words from the poem when I was walking with Maeve the Deerhound early this morning, and as we stood quietly near the church and watched the colours change as the sun came up behind the clouds out to sea.
After grocery shopping we went to M&S at City Quay in Dundee to pick up a coat we had ordered for Apothecary7. While we were there the staff and shoppers observed the two minutes silence of remembrance at 11am.
We went and got Maeve from the car and wandered up to The Howff where we had a few quiet minutes with lovely bright Autumn light on the leaves and the old stones.
