Passion Flower
As a result of taking photos of flowers to blip I've been struck by the beauty and love that is visible in many gardens. But I've also been struck by the most beautiful flowers growing in the most unlikely places.
This is passion flower which shines from the front yard of a derelict-looking house, surrounded by rubbish and weeds. Morning, noon and night the dirty ripped curtains are shut yet there are signs of life. The bin goes out with rhythm and regularity and there's a fresh little lavender pot on the front step. But I would surmise that whoever lives here is not happily engaged with life. It seems fitting that such a powerfully transformative flower flourishes outside.
Passion flower essence works not on bringing more romantic passion into your life, but instead on the issues associated with the Passion of Christ - the physical, mental and spiritual suffering symbolized by the Crucifixion. My knowledge of the Bible is, I admit, patchy but as a young child I remember bawling my eyes out hearing about the Crucifixion. The injustice and suffering seemed too painful to bear and I was humbled by the story of Christ's compassion and love in the face of persecution.
This is exactly what passion flower essence works with and the green stamens in the centre symbolise Christ while the magenta looks like the cross. Passion flower essence helps you to see that sacrifice, suffering and pain are only temporary and, often, necessary parts of the spiritual path. If we choose to release the relationships, situations and places that stop us connecting with our spirit it may feel like the sacrifice is too huge and painful to bear. This is when passion flower essence helps.
Passion flower essence brings deeper spiritual self-confidence, Christ-like compassion and greater visionary states. It seems fitting today on 09/09/09 which is being welcomed as a significant day of spiritual evolution, Christ consciousness, healing, light and interconnectedness. Some more information here.
