SUMO SQUIRREL
I wondered where all the peanuts were going – looks like I found the answer in this pleasingly plump little lady. When I went outside to do more yard work, I heard this ‘tsk, tsk, tsk’ - hearing that, it’s easy enough to find their general location. She was partially hidden high in the tree, watching every move I made. She sat perfectly still for quite a while, most likely under the impression that she couldn’t be seen. Of course, once I started the lawn mower, she disappeared – but I already had my blip for today.
I only put 3 or 4 peanuts on the back step every other day or so, and thought that was all the squirrels were getting. For ages I’ve been concerned because they couldn’t seem to find the new peanut feeder, but yesterday I saw it was about half empty, and now today it was totally empty so I know they’ve found it. Unfortunately I don’t have a direct line of sight to watch any activity there, but I’m hoping once the trees are bare I’ll be able to blip some squirrels raiding the peanuts. That is, if they aren’t so heavy by then that they can’t get to it!
