Windfalls

We arrived back from France early this morning (about 1.30am), after a brilliant week in Normandy. We stayed in Arromanches and after a shaky start - our initial ferry crossing was cancelled due to the wind - everything went according to plan.

As with the cycling holiday earlier in the year, I shall put up the pictures from the holiday one day at a time, so if anyone is interested, you won't have to wade through seven days worth of blips and text all at the same time - just refer back from the current day's blip. So going back to the 26th October from today will get the beginning of the holiday.

Fortunately, the winds didn't affect the garden too much and today's blip shows a blackbird taking advantage of the windfalls from our apple tree. I always pile them up at this spot for the birds and they usually last through the winter. It's mostly blackbirds, though when we had a lot of snow a couple of years ago, we had fieldfares and redwings feeding on them. Surprisingly, there were still a lot of apples left on the tree when we got back, despite the gales from the previous weekend.
