More Spookiness: The Church in the Trees
Following on from yesterday's stylised fisheye image of the cross, here is the church in a nearby out-lying village, with a five + minute exposure.
I was going to clone out the tripod's shadow but that is far too complex a job and having spent several hours getting just 6 images and using nearly two charged LiOn batteries, it's not something I wish to tackle right now...the 3 mile walk there and back in the middle of the night didn't help...
With the full-frame D700 I used the fully corrected Sigma 14mm lens, which is equivalent to a 9mm in DX terms, this gives a pronounced perspective and impressive depth of field - the massive pine tree on the left is just a foot or so away from the camera. It was cloudy and there was no breeze. I got through two albums on the Ipod, Steve Hackett's Spectral Mornings and the entire Tom Robinson Band's Greatest Hits, though I do have to admit that the pounding anthem 2-4-6-8 Motorway seemed just a little wrong in a quiet and dark churchyard...then there were all the fir cones that I couldn't see but was always falling over!
On posting that red fisheye image up on facebook last night, I had a message about shooting the promo pics for a band - one which I have caught live on a couple of occasions - the contact I know really thought I had that extra touch, I suppose!
Everybody have a great weekend and if you're out shooting a firework display, keep safe and keep your exposures fairly short, burning out is a real problem and ruins many shots.
