A little ray of sunshine

So perhaps I should have taken more notice to the Look North weather forecast than my sister last night when planning on where we were going to meet...

It'll be dry till 3 she said. OK then, lets meet at Beningborough Hall for a picnic. If it rains later we can go in the house, or to the tea rooms.

It started to rain just as we pulled in to the car park, just after 11. It finally stopped around 3pm.

Despite that, the children had a great time in adventure playground whilst K and I had a good catch up over a flask of coffee. They enjoyed sitting in the little wooden house with the table to eat their picnic. Not enough room in there for adults though so K and I were sat under the slide, grateful that it wide enough for at least 4 children so was actually quite dry.

We hunted for pumpkins; big ones, small ones, green ones, orange ones. We had the longest visit to a National Trust house we've ever managed with children. They had a great time discussing which model aircraft they were in; Dressing up in 18th century costumes; having their lovely faces digitally superimposed onto old portraits, and learning about the airmen that occupied the house during the war.

It was the mums asking if we could leave for once, not the children. They couldn't hear the tea room calling...
