Be prepared!
Oh what a lesson! Heron Hunter arrived after lunch today and offered to take me to the bird hide ... quick ... grab the camera and go! We got there and about 20 pictures into shooting the camera battery went flat! I had failed to charge it, and worse still I hadn't picked up the spare.
Then to add insult to injury, as it were, the greater spotted woodpecker turned up, and just as we were leaving the kingfisher appeared! I'll have to make sure I don't make that mistake again!
Opportunities come when they decide and not necessarily when we expect them. We need to be ready for them! Fortunately today's was not a life threatening mistake ... I hope to have further opportunities to get a shot of the woodpecker, but opportunities to impact someone for good, to lend a helping hand, to share one's faith, to help someone in need or danger - these happen when we are least expecting it.
So - lesson learnt? I hope I have! In the meantime you just get a shot of a great tit waiting for his opportunity to launch himself at the birdfeeder.
