The 'Real Dubai' Tour

Today Gareth took us on his tour of the 'real Dubai'. It's a tour of the centre of Dubai near the Creek, away from the glitz and glam of the new areas that have sprung up over the last decade.

We started at the Dubai fish market which was huge! It's open to trade and retail and was quite quiet when we arrived at 10, as it opens really early for all the hotels and restaurant. As such we could wander around and have a good look at everything. Gareth was the first to hold something... a slimy octopus! The kids weren't so keen on that but were quite happy to hold a shark, and then a big fish head! Great fun.

We continued the walk going through the Gold Souq, the Spice Souq and then the Textile Souq. Really fascinating as you got a genuine feel of how Dubai used to be.

And of course today was Halloween. This evening Amy and James were invited to go treat or treating with the children that Erin looks after. They came back with loads of candy... over here you get given a handful of sweets at each house, not just one piece!!
