Thursday: Captive Audience

This morning I went to give a short talk at the university to a group of young scientists.  As you can see, people flocked from far and wide to hear what I had to say.  Maybe the fact that I know nothing about science had something to do with it.  One of the only biology facts I can remember from school is that cramp is an accumulation of lactic acid due to anaerobic respiration.  And it wasn't even because I studied that, but because I shared a room with a girl doing A level biology who used used to recite that as a mantra.

Anyway, after yesterday's attempt to see the Brazilian movie, I had a surprise call from the Brazilian Embassy today.  They felt so bad that they had been unable to accommodate us that they have sent us the DVDs on loan, even though they don't normally lend out their film library.  I thought that was a lovely gesture and now we get to see them anyway.

It's a random public holiday here tomorrow so no work.  I love it when Thursday becomes the new Friday!
