I love old tools. Sure, they're slow and heavy and usually require a lot more patience, but there's something organic and natural about the process of using them. If I had to build a deck right now I'd still go for the modern electric equivalents, but I can see myself sitting around building all sorts of things by hand with old wooden tools when I retire one day. My first year of full time employment, one month in, and I'm talking about retirement...
Oh! I sharpened a knife today. I've never used the sharpening stone before, just the metal wand thing (I don't have a clue). I feel like a man. I'm getting used to island life.
