A Clever Stove

Gibson Mill is located in Hardcastle Crags (NT) Hebden Bridge.
Between 2003 & 2005 it underwent a £2m refurbishment and it is now totally self-sufficient in every way (apart from a telephone line).
Water powered turbines, photo voltaic panels, composting toilets and a wood burning boiler make the project viable.
One of the more visible parts of this self-sufficiency is this Swedish ‘Kakkelovn’ thermal mass log burning space heater stove installed in the café seating area.
It's a bit like a big storage heater - but more efficient and burning wood (which comes from the maintenance of the surrounding woodland).
After only one burn process at the beginning of the day the heat deposited into the thermal mass of the stove is emitted over a 12 hour long period during the rest of the day. It works very well, and the cafe is warm and cosy.
With the soaring cost of energy, I could do with one of these in the MD residence :-)
