Derelict Farmhouse

This is a derelict farmhouse, just off the Pennine Way, Stanbury, Nr.Haworth.
It's about a mile from Top Withens (Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights) and is typical of the farmhouses that were abandoned because of the difficulty in scraping a living from the inhospitable moorland.
Most of the farms have one or two trees growing close by, in contrast to no trees anywhere else on the moor. These trees were important to shelter the farmers stock against the elements, and to offer the ability to grow a few vegetables.
Most of these farmhouses don't have a clear access road and will probably continue their decline.
