sweet treat

Flowering time again along the long spike inflorescence of the Xanthorrhoea (grass trees) growing along our street's verge.
I love how the tiny little flowers start appearing from the base and pop up along the whole length of the spike in a sort of rolling wave.
Bees and butterflies think it is pretty good too and are in constant attendance for days.

A very busy day two of Kanyana volunteering. My job was to hourly hand feed a mob of baby magpies with special meatballs ( it was as if an internal food alarm went off and they all started yelling simultaneously) and convince a couple of kookaburras that defrosted black mice were DELICIOUS.
Today's blip was almost the micey poles but thought that might be a tad much for the more delicate blippers!
Hence the floral equivalent of an icy pole.
