Golden fungi
What a fabulous autumn day. Wall to wall sunshine and sparkling colours.
Following a morning in the art class when I finished a painting of The Lonesome Pine which I blipped in September, I was eager to get outside for a walk and once outside I just let the glorious autumn day settle around me like a comfort blanket. Honestly if all days in the winter were like this - dry, cold and sunny - I would be a happy bunny. I had lost a glove yesterday while taking photos!! and therefore my eyes were kept fairly close to the ground on the parts I was retracing. Thus it was not difficult to spot these golden fungi lit by the afternoon's glorious sunshine as they nestled in the hollow at the base of an old tree stump. After much dithering I eventually decided to crop the shot, as sometimes less is more. However I also liked the larger shot - I will let you decide which you prefer. I am not sure which fungi these are but they have some similarities to the Chanterelle, however I was sufficiently unsure to leave them be.
