Fiery fronds.
The biggest local fireworks do tonight. Fortunately that stiff breeze the world and his wife have been blathering on about for the last week decided to a) not really bother with this neck of the woods and b) not be all that much after all and so it all went ahead. Even a biblical squall 90 minutes beforehand didn't dissuade folks from turning out.
In the last few years I've bombed around for ages beforehand trying to find somewhere to watch it from. This year (possibly because of the squall) there were loads of places very close to the field to park up and plonk the tripod.
