Who Am I?
A fine question to ponder on your birthday. I'm not quite sure what answer I would come to were I to use my very fine collection of presents as a guide, including as they have an hour's piano lesson with a concert pianist (are you kidding me, I have barely played in 20 years!) and a cocktail masterclass at Harvey Nichols. And before I book the latter I will have to attend the cocktail ring making session my parents booked me. Hmm, I spy a theme. And I am drinking tea from the finest of cups whilst sporting a very dashing new scarf. My mantelpiece is adorned with cards and my inbox is full of good wishes. In the mayhem of life it is sometimes possible, I find, to lose sight of all the connections we have forged along the way. If nothing else, a birthday is a wonderful reminder to reinforce those connections.
Turns out it doesn't matter if your birthday is on a Monday if you both take the day off work and the kids are on half-term. In brief summary: run, homemade breakfast (thank you Anna), cards and presents, Science Museum (including very excellent explosions show and a lot of exploring about the brain), lunch at Byron, Covent Garden, a juggling, balancing act in the plaza, home for cake and fizz and a game of Sherlock Holmes Cluedo (present from the kids) with my mom who dropped in, then watching Bolt. Don't know how I've managed to miss that one but very funny and highly recommended. Now kids are heading bedwards and we have last night's Homeland to catch up on. Did I say brief? Okay, not so brief but it really has been a very, very lovely day.
