Looking in on the Sugar Sheds
The Absent Voices had a top secret group appointment today at the Sugar Sheds in Greenock.
All will be revealed in due course but fellow Blippers... be assured it is ALL good!
One of our number, who hasn't been introduced yet, Alan Carlisle, took this shot looking into the sugar sheds.
Alan mastered the craft of designing and producing stained glass art at the Glasgow School of Art and is co-founder of Slow Dazzle, an art collective making contemporary stained glass.
Together with Slow Dazzle partner and fellow Absent Voices artist, Ryan King, Alan is based in the Cara Glass studio, where Absent Voices lead artist, Alec Galloway is passing on vast reserves of knowledge on glass making gleaned over two decades.
Alan entered the British music scene with ‘Yankee Swastika’, winning credits on Radio 1 and NME with a song combining the powerful lyrics of a speech by Jello Biafra with a clever beat.
An accomplished songwriter and music producer, Alan has performed with a number of bands in the Glasgow music scene. He studied sound engineering and is also a sought-after studio technician.
To cap it off, he is in a band called Alphabetical Order Orchestra with Ryan King and Tiziano Galli.
Looking forward to some glass-meets-sonic activities from Alan and Ryan in the coming months.
A talented bunch, these Absent Voices artists...
