dishevelled..

...is this Australian Painted Lady and at the end of a very windy and hot day I'm not surprised.
A and I had a hot, sweaty and madly fly flapping wander through the bush before we stumbled on her hogging a patch of tiny flowers.
Gamely battling on with a tattered wing it was very encouraging to see it had not prevented flying and nectar gathering.

She/he also has the rather fancy name Vanessa kershawi...somehow I could see that moniker on a film poster or perhaps a cabaret act?
