Matriculation day in Oxford....
Today was a lovely day...
We were up early and went for a walk to explore Oxford. Had breakfast beside the Radcliffe Camera. This was the day when all the students starting new courses matriculated and there was a great atmosphere about the place. It is quite a feat of organisation getting all the students through the Sheldonian Theatre in a timely and orderly fashion, but it was all done with meticulous precision. Queues of students and masters formed and were shepherded through to enjoy a ceremony lasting roughly 20 minutes or so then they emerged down these steps fully matriculated! The men on duty at the entrances and exits allowed for no dilly-dallying and kept them all moving very effectively.
After our son emerged through the exit gate we headed off for lunch then went off to visit his college then to explore Oxford. We had a very enjoyable boat cruise late afternoon. Later we had dinner in the same restaurant as last night as we had enjoyed it so much.
