"It will stimulate walkers to head for the hills", said The Times Educational Supplement of Ralph Storer's, "100 Best routes on Scottish Mountains".

And so it did. And I, with various partners over the years have followed Ralph's routes over many of Scotland's mountains. But the one route that I have not done is the infamous "Aonach Eagach". Right from the start of my mountaineering "career" I, and my hill-going comrades, have been put off doing the Aonach Eagach by Ralphs forbidding description.

However, today, my friend A and I have vowed to do it! Next year...
