Perth Zoo

Katie was extremely excited to go to the Zoo today. And rightly so, we had a brilliant day!! We had a walk round the penguins (who were asleep), the crocodile and a few other animals, before we let them run wild in the absolutely amazing play area. Play areas here are just phenomenal. They played for a long time on a bigger than life size elephant slide, where they slide down the trunk. They ate a mountain of early lunch before we headed to the African savannah area. Katie and I spent a long time watching the cheetah, who kept circling the enclosure. She was fascinated by his "blooding meat" that was waiting to be eaten. The tiger performed for Max, Katie and I. She really loved the orange lion-head monkey and the baby-wearing lemur. The two of them were also intrigued when they saw the lady taking the food to the monkeys. Fruit, some salad, and worms! None of us realised they ate worms, and the kids were fascinated.

The lions were asleep, the meerkats were bonkers, the African and Indian elephants were fighting through their separate gates. The giraffe were standing tall but not moving. The rhinos were on the rampage. The children LOVED it all. We stopped for ice cream about 4.05. Five minutes too late for the huge carousel, but they took it well. We saw even more stunning wild parrots flying through the trees too. Treats from the gift shop rounded off the day.
