Cross country runners

There was a cross country race going on today in the park. My friend's son J is a very keen and apparently talented young runner so I went to cheer him on. I know almost nothing about this sport (my apologies as I know several of my subscribers do!) but it was good fun. Although I thought J did really well, he wasn't happy with his placing because he particularly wanted to beat one of his clubmates. But he has vowed to beat him next time. I am reliably informed that this is a friendly rivalry!
