The Dovecot, Foxton.1706.

Dovecots were built as places in which to keep doves or pigeons. The birds that nested there were a luxury food providing meat and eggs throughout the year. The interior was lined with nesting boxes, often with rotating ladders to make collection easier. The roof was structured so that the birds could easily fly in and out. The plaque over the door has the letters R. J&S. 1706. Almost certainly built by a local farmer, James Rayner and with his wife Susan's initial added. The dovecot was last renovated in 2006 but the farmhouse was demolished in 1825.
