Between fen and mountains

Moulin St Pierre

The olive season is getting underway but is two weeks behind as was the grape harvest. We went to the Moulin St Pierre to get some olive oil and had a visit around the plant. It was an interesting tour and I took plenty of photos of the new stainless steel machinery as well as old presses in the yard but the photo I liked best was this one of the oil pourers on sale in the shop. The Moulin produces 20,000 litres a year of a very light olive oil from the arbequina olive which grows well locally. The only place it is available in the UK is Harrods! I think I got mine without the mark up!

As there was a bit of time left before an appointment, we had a lunch out in Thuir. The service was slow but the food well worth waiting for.
