On the Rue Mouffetard...

Set off today for Paris, and arrived mid afternoon.Had planned to take the RER into Paris but when I stepped out the Orly terminal there was a bus going straight away so I jumped onto that instead. This spontaneous change of plans meant that when I arrived at the destination of the bus, I hadn't a clue where I was going. However, I made enquiries and all was well. I usually stay in the 1st Arrondissement but this time, for a change and because it suited where I have to go tomorrow, I was staying in the 5th. By a happy coincidence, the bus took me to within walking distance of where I wanted to go. As I was pouring over my map, a lovely couple stopped and asked me where I wanted to go and, when I explained, they told me it was on their way and they would walk with me. We walked and they chatted in French about Paris and gave me various warnings of dangers ahead... don't buy anything in the Rue Mouffetard, as it is ludicrously expensive, don't go on the Metro at night and watch your purse in tourist areas...I have kept all these warnings in mind, but have felt perfectly safe everywhere I have gone so far. I really enjoyed their company and appreciated their kindness though.
I did pop up to the Rue Mouffetard this evening, because I do love this vibrant little street. The market was long since packed up and gone home but there were still lots of little shops open and loads of restaurants and bars.
Later had a lovely meal in a restaurant near the hotel...
