Made in Madagascar

My daughter and I spent the day at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace. A huge exhibition with galleries of work by textile artists, a graduate showcase, a massive market place where one could buy everything textile you could imagine. We took part in a workshop, watched a fashion show and even had a picnic outside with wonderful views of London. A brilliant day.

Here is a stall with wares from Madagascar put on by Azafady, a charity dedicated to supporting the people and ecosystems of villages in Madagascar. We had been asked to look out for the stall by my son-in-law who a few years ago went to Madagascar to work as a volunteer for a few weeks, helping in the building of a school. We were very impressed with the range of beautiful items embroidered by village ladies. The stall attracted visitors and was very busy.
