CONTRAST
I went hopefully up the Royal Mile in Edinburgh today find my Blip at the Castle and was astonished at entry prices to the Castle -£16 and £8.50 concession to progress further into Edinburgh's "Disnaeland" -- which "disnae" reflect the honest nature of the Scottish Nation. Here were hordes of earnest tourists, piles of trash and cheap tat allegedly representing Scottish culture and --tartan everywhere! It was disappointing so I moved away from the Brigadoon image to find myself walking down to Leith where life is experienced in a less precious fashion, people live and breathe in the humour and grimness of Scotland today. There is not a kilt to be seen but I can vouch for the interest to be found in bookshops such as ELVIS SHAKESPEARE and treasure troves like JUNKADELIC. To visit them there is no charge and you can find them on the internet as you can Edinburgh Castle of course.
Since it's Friday I was looking for a suitable monochrome subject luckily finding one in Leith in the form of street art - black and white with a touch of colour in the framing.
So All's Well that ends Well ---don't you think?
