Dolphins!

Returned to the quay at St. Mary's in the hopes that yesterday's postponed trip would happen, it wasn't looking good, the boatman wasn't convinced but we all said let's go, if we can't see anything then so be it.  Well, as we reached the Norrard Rocks the fog lifted.  We saw lots of seals, even a couple of baby seals.  The adult seals were in the water and their heads would periscope out of the waves inquisitively to watch us.  There was quite a swell so the little boat was rolling.

After we'd said goodbye to the seals the boatman off-handedly said he'd seen a few dolphins a little further out the day before, he decided to take us a little further on the off chance they might still be hanging about.  Quite soon we noticed a large flock of birds circling and diving into the water and a lot of water disturbance, as we neared we could clearly see a pod of dolphins!  The closer we got we could see the balls of fish swirling, the birds and dolphins moving in to feed.  Very exciting.

The boatman dropped us off on the beautiful island of Bryher for the rest of the day, picking us up at 5 p.m. just as the weather was taking a turn for the worst.  Oh the rain came down and we were soaked through.
