Mostly Six Five Oh

Part of the main entryway to the Rebuilding Center on N. Mississippi Avenue. We dropped in for a browse this afternoon. The center is a non-profit organization that carries used building and remodeling materials. They take donations and all the reusable stuff that came out of our house during various renovations was brought here. It was great knowing that things would be going into another project in someone else's home and not to a landfill. They also offer a "Deconstruction" service, they carefully take a building apart bit by bit instead of a demolition, according to their site their crews salvage for reuse up to 85% of a building's main components. There was an apartment building in our neighborhood that was "deconstructed" by these folks in 2010, to make way for a new build. It was pretty fascinating to watch as you can imagine.

More information about the organization here if you're interested.
