Christmas cake made

Susan woke up this morning and remembered she hadn't put the fruit and stuff for the Christmas cake to soak overnight in the sherry and orange juice. That was a problem as she's working tomorrow and on Friday we go to Edinburgh.

Solution, soak the fruit first thing this morning and make the cake tonight. So that's what she did and it seems to be fine. The proof of the cake will be in the eating, but it's never disappointed yet. The cake came out of the oven at 11.30pm just in time for me to complete today's blip. The before shot, where I'm making a wish while stirring the cake and the after shot just as it's come from the oven.

Went to the Fracture Clinic at the hospital this morning. Doctor says I've ruptured my medial collateral ligament (MCL) and may have damaged the cartilage as well, owing to my inability to bend my knee to any great degree.

He wants an "urgent MRI scan" done. So off I went to book the scan and was told "we'll write to you and let you know, seems like you need it quickly so it'll be in the next two to three weeks".

Back at the clinic I was fitted with another brace which I have to wear for 4-6 weeks. Very technical as the degree of knee rotation can be controlled. I took the temporary splint I had from A & E back again as I thought they'd reuse it. But no, they are all single use items and in the past were thrown away. Infection control you see. I sort of see their point but now, instead of throwing them away they send them to Africa. Wasn't sure whether the Africans were more tolerant of infections or weren't so worried but I think on balance it was better than throwing it way. The same will happen with this brace too.

However, the Doctor said that swimming is the best physio I can do at this stage along with gentle walking, so off to the pool I went again today - 3rd time this week. I'm wondering what the marks on my neck are and whether the little flaps of skin between my toes are related to too much time in the water?
