Exeter Cathedral

After a night at a pleasant hotel in Exeter we had a bit of time until we'd need to be back at the airport.  The hotel was in short walking distance of the incredible Cathedral, as we were there quite early there were very few other tourists.

Just next to the cathedral were some beautiful old buildings, one was called the Hub on the Green, a local arts and community "hub" for Exeter.  I can't remember the sequence of events but somehow we found ourselves inside this amazing building full of friendly people happy to show us around the place and happy to let me photograph the carved beamed ceilings, the next thing we knew we were being asked if we were staying for choir: Do you sing?  We're always looking for people to join!

We explained we were only in town for a few hours which brought forth a flurry of suggestions of fun things to do, one of which was the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery which is where we took ourselves after touring the cathedral.  The interior of the museum was painted in the most amazingly vibrant colors, the entrance hall and stairway was shocking pink!  There were lots of interesting exhibits (and it was all free of charge!) and then an exit via a stretch of the ancient Roman wall that had once surrounded the town.

Back at the airport and the flight took off!  Teensy, teensy plane, we were only 4 passengers on the 15 seater aircraft.  The flight was an hour, not too bumpy and lots of wonderful views across the countryside and over the water.  Two days into our Isles of Scilly visit and we'd finally made it.
