framed
I'm watching a series of videos on basic photography by a man who shoots for the National Geographic magazine.
Much to his credit, he demonstrates many of his pointers with photos he has taken in his own home, or in his rural hometown in Nebraska. He emphasizes that we don't have to travel to exotic places to take great pictures. But of course, he also shows some awesome photos that have been published by Nat'l Geo.
The last lesson I watched was about seeing natural framing for the subject we are photographing. I realized I often zoom in and make my subject the whole picture, rather than letting it be framed.
And isn't framing an interesting part of the story? Nothing really happens or lives in isolation - we need context to better understand.
So here is a Mountain Chickadee navigating our urban jungle.
And sometimes I feel like I am navigating an urban jungle when I am designed to be living in the mountains. It's all a matter of perspective!
