Rosie the Runner
This morning had all the hallmarks of a disaster when Scotrail let us and a trainful of runners for the Great Scottish Run in Glasgow down, by cancelling the first train of the morning and delaying the next one. Had it not being for the organisers putting back the start of the 10k race by about 45 minutes, many people would have missed out.
Fortunately we were going through to cheer on Shipley daughter, running the Half Marathon for St Columba's Hospice in Edinburgh, and which had a later start.
We found her near the start and caught sight of her along the route, before His Lordship took me and Glasgow daughter and family for lunch in George Square.
We had barely finished the meal before Rosie texted from the finish at Glasgow Green..... A scant 2 hours..... much faster than she and we had expected.
His Lordship and I left the young ones to meet up in the maelstrom of runners and meeters in the park and caught the train back to Edinburgh.
HL and I had mixed emotions seeing so many thousand runners take to the streets. We were remembering our times in that same race and wishing in a way that we were part of the excitement again.
Well done Rosie, you did so well and you've raised £700 for a good cause.
