Visitor

This bird has arrived in our garden during the last couple of days. I'm not entirely certain what it is, but the only bird in my books which resemble it is a brambling. If anyone knows for sure, I would appreciate any suggestions.

I'm pretty sure it is the same bird that was around last winter. However, it looks a bit like it may not last through this winter. If you look closely, it seems to be losing feathers from the top of its head and its eyes go half closed very quickly - as they are in the picture. Also, it seems to just be resting its body on the tiles, rather than using its feet and legs.

On the bright side, it's feeding regularly and seems to particularly like the fat balls I've put out, so hopefully it will buck up a bit.
