A time for everything

Move-in day!

Monday
Still catching up on back-blips from our three weeks without internet at the house! So this was finally move-in day - two weeks later than it should have been as the house had no electricity - it's a new house and basically the landlord hadn't allowed enough time for the electric company to come and install the meter etc. Our house is one of three, access to which is down a narrow track between two walls and I'd had doubts whether they would get the container down it. Roger had left the hotel first - I followed a bit later, and arrived as they were trying to reverse it into the lane - quite a work of art, but they finally managed it! The weather was looking rather dubious and rain was forecast, but they just managed to get everything into the house before the rain started. Then it was a matter of re-assembling everything - they take apart anything that will, so that it's more compact. They were a great crew - efficient and friendly. Some of the furniture had suffered from scuffed edges despite being well wrapped in bubble wrap and strong brown paper, but nothing worse than that, and not one glass or piece of crockery/ china etc was broken. So all in all the day went much better than I had anticipated. I do wish I wasn't so much of a worrier - I know Roger does too - he's had to put up with me for the last few months!!
