Sophia
This is Sophia. Yes, I named this tiny little Kitten Sophia. After work today I ended up waiting for a taxi for an hour and half just to take my 20 minute ride home. The area near my work is so hectic and filled with traffic that is takes me anywhere from 30 minutes to about 1.5 hours to get a taxi when I leave. It drives me a bit nuts!!
Anyways...Sophia. I was on my 40+ something minute of waiting for a taxi and I started to walk up and down the street because I was super bored. I walked up near the big dumpsters where all of the cats that I took a picture of last week hang out looking for food. I walked a bit past them and started to hear a very loud meowing. It was strong and sounded not happy so I started to look for the cat to make sure it was OK, because at that rate I was over the whole taxi thing anyways.
I heard the meowing even stronger as I approached a huge wall/barrier of big boulder like stones. I heard the meowing and found the tiniest and cutest little kitten (Sophia) there. The little thing was stuck and wasn't big enough to jump up over the huge boulders. I started to reach in to get here when I then thought...."when was my last rabies shot? And how long do those shots last again?" I remembered I had one or 3 separate series of them in Botswana and that was two years ago. I couldn't remember how long it lasted for but Sophia was so cute and stuck and I was pretty sure you could get rabies shots after you've been bitten or scratched. So that was good enough for me!
I reached out and just quickly placed Sophia the kitty on another rock where she wouldn't get trapped. However, it all freaked her out so she quickly went to other rocks and hide in them. I wanted to give her some food, but all I had was gum and I knew that was bad. I need to start keeping a little bit of bread or something in my bag. I wanted to take her home and keep her so badly. I still do!!! This whole street cat/street kitten thing is going to be the end of me. Breaks my heart every time!!!!
Since I startled Sophia a bit, she hide in her little rock cave, but watched me for about 20 minutes trying to get my cab. She didn't move and didn't look away, so I took a picture of her staring at me. I will say that she fell asleep for about 5 of those minutes, but it was so hot and she had be trapped. I mean, thats a pretty big day for a little thing, who can blame her. Oh Sophia....
