We have all learnt a lot about the work involved and nurturing needed from planting the seedlings to the harvesting of these salad and vegetable plants.
So much depends on the weather. Thankfully none of it was vandalised. Julie, who works at the Prospects Foundation in Accrington in the centre photo, has been a great source of inspiration and encouragement to the group.
This is our second year of local food growing as a Prospects venture.
There are plans for a local childrens' park to be converted into community food growing raised beds, for individuals and people working together.
I am very interested in the work of the Transition Towns, Totnes and Lewes being pioneers in this initiative.
Next Thursday a few of us are going to a Transition meeting at Clitheroe library to gather ideas and inspiration.
