VICTORIAN STATION

It maybe just a railway station but . . .

Fortunately there still exist remnants of railway heritage in the UK and this station in Saltburn, Cleveland certainly has a history.

Saltburn was a King of Victorian Seaside Splendour and passengers could arrive fresh from London on a direct through train outside the door to the Zetland Hotel.
Opened in 1863, it was the world’s first purpose built railway hotel with a private platform.

The Zetland Hotel is also the best example of Victorian architecture in Cleveland.
As for Saltburn Station itself – it is the only remaining example of a station retaining the original LNER orange station signs.
