Blue and Yellow

Back to weekday normality today. Except during lunch Bean decided he didn't actually want to go to Forest School today. So, I decided when Bear woke up we'd go to Ikea. Steve brought Bean's high chair back with him, it's like a smaller version of a bar stool really, the seat is high enough so Bean can sit at the table properly. Anyway he brought it for Bear as Bean is ok on a regular chair these days. But Bean was so delighted at having his chair back that we realised we were going to have to get another one anyway...

So we went to Ikea and the boys were the most well-behaved children, delightful company, sitting in the trolley singing their hearts out, chatting away. They made friends with an older couple in the restaurant when we stopped for coffee and some rocky roads. Played peekaboo, introduced themselves (well Bean introduced the both of them), chatted away, told them our life stories... and then another couple said as they got up to leave, what delightful children I have!!

Hah. It does make up for the dreadful times, of which there have been enough recently. But it does make me proud. I'm so grateful they were such good company! We found a chair for Bear too ;-)

This evening has been awful though. Tired children, husband took over two hours to get home, hungry kids wanted to wait for daddy to get home to eat with him, meltdowns over cushions being wrong, full on tantrums and screaming matches. Not fun. Incredibly, Bean and I ended the day actually friends with each other. Maybe we actually are secure enough in our love for each other that we are able to fully express our feelings of frustration and occassionally anger without fear of breaking that bond...
