So hip it (actually) hurts

This is me doing my best to fit in, in East London. This place is ridiculously trendy, so trendy that I actually have a headache and have had to have a lie down in the hotel room to escape it for a bit.

Another late then sleepless night with Audrey, a long train journey and a caper with a forgotten suitcase combination lock meant that we didn't have the best of starts to the day.

We got to Kings Cross a bit frazzled but had a brilliant lunch at cool canteen place called Caravan near St Martins College. Hung out with the arty fashion crowd which was brilliant people watching.

Hopped in a cab to Shoreditch and to the stupidly pretentious private member's club Shoreditch House. This place has a pool on the roof and is so achingly hip, if you smile at the waiters they look at you like you've lost your mind. We felt like proper Northerners in there. But again it is a fascinating place to hang out.

I do love coming somewhere like this where there's a "scene" (or people act like there is). Taken with a pinch of salt, it is complete escapism.

Off out for steaks to the Hawksmoor tonight. Angus has been and raved about it. If it's another "trendy trendy" place my head might just explode though. There's only so much this lass from Rochdale can take....
