Forever Autumn

The leaves seem to have turned all of a sudden, the green giving way to reds and oranges and the wind has done her worst over the past few days. I love crisp mornings cold but dry but as the day wended on the rain rolled in and it seems to be here for the remainder of the week sadly.

When I thought about doing some shots inspired by lyrics this was one I pictured, a song I have loved from the very first time I heard it. The song is part of the War of the Worlds and I am sure many of you will have happy memories of this concept album.

This hauntingly beautiful melody and heartfelt lyrics strike a chord with me, reminding me of those I care deeply about but who are so far away. Here the Golden Gown reminds me of younger days walking, talking sharing the angst of being young, a friendship forged for a lifetime.

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old,
and darker days are drawing near,
the winter winds will be much colder,
now you're not here.
I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
and one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them,
now you're not here

like the sun through the trees you came to love me
like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

through autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way
you always loved this time of year
loose fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
cos you're not here x 3

like the sun through the trees you came to love me
like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

a gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes
as if to hide a lonely tear
my life will be forever autumn
cos you're not here

If you are not familiar with the song give it a whirl, it is beautiful, gentle and clutches at your very soul. A simple shot but I really like it, the low prospective adds to the interest and I hope you enjoy.
